I'm A Christ-Follower, Now What?

After we make sure we are truly apart of God's family we should live accordingly. We shouldn't allow our actions, mouths or minds to betray our standing with Christ. "   6  So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,  7  rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.   8  See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.   9  For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,  10  and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. "  Colossians 2:6-10 " How can people who have trusted Jesus as their Savior live in rebellion against God through inappropriate attitudes and behaviors? After all, when a person is saved, he's given new life, but sinful th

iHaTeIt When... (Endings)

Image
I loathe when movies are rushed at the end but especially shows. You have 25 plus episodes and you can't use that time equally?    I really like K-dramas but if they continue to make horrible endings I'm going to find something else to watch. C-dramas and J-dramas are ok but I don't watch many of them, K-dramas seem to have the better quality (as in clarity) to me.    They drag out the plot so only one significant thing happens an episode. Nearing the end of the series you see the problems that should be getting resolved not happening and so us regular viewer already know the outcome. The supposedly satisfying ending is stuffed into one episode completing the series and leaving the audience upset. Prime example: Boys Over Flowers [Warning: Spoilers]    That horrid mother causes all sorts of calamity and at the end of the show she gets what she wants and just leaves them alone. The girl who almost broke the couple up just gets sent off. The couple themselves bare

New Movies 2!!!

Image
I forgot about my " New Movies " post. LOL Two years later I've watched all but two of the films on my list. Can you guess which ones I haven't seen yet? So anyways I decided to update it. A couple of days ago I made a little list of the upcoming films that I was interested in seeing and that's what I'll share with you all today and some. Organization is based on my desire to see the film. Limitless (March 18, 2011) - A writer, faced with a chance to save his career, takes pills that allows him to use all of his brain. But this new ability brings unwanted symptoms and consequences. Thor (May 6, 2011) - "The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders." Captain America  (July 22, 2011) - Chris Evans takes on yet another Marvel hero, Captain America. I wonder if this is going to be any good. We'll just ha

Good People Don't Go to Heaven

Image
I know it's hard for some to accept this fact but it's true. No matter how "good" you are you're still not good enough to get into heaven. Your goodness has no bearing on your determination of where you will spend eternity.    Many people have ben fed this lie by Hollywood to make others feel better about themselves and those they love. We would all like to know that we along with the ones we care for will end up in heaven but it's not possible for a nonbeliever to enter the Kingdom of God.     Many people assume that they're Christians because of someone told them that they were, they go to church or that they believe in "God". I put quotation marks around the name God because some people believe in a god they've made up in their minds. How can you truly know God when you don't spend real time in His Word learning about Him and His ways? How can you truly know God when you don't obey Him and accept His Son as God in human

Love It or Leave It: Film Reviews 3

Here is my third post of this series. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts on these films. Instead of using stars to rate I use ♥ (hearts) meaning I love it and to represent leave it I chose this symbol: ☞ (pointing hand). So without further ado... Knight and Day    Cameron Diaz plays June Haven, (in my opinion) a bowl full of silly awkwardness while Tom Cruise plays Roy Miller, a cool and confident "rogue" CIA agent looking to clear his name and protect the innocent. As June's safety quickly diminishes as her life becomes intertwined with Roy's mission. Trust is a main theme here and it is put through all kinds of test as lives are in peril. This turned out to be a pretty good film. Lot of laughs, lobbying and love. This film would've been way fine without the swearing...    I don't like CG very much because many people use it when it's unnecessary. I felt that some of it's use in Knight and Day could have been spared for a more real look.

Single Ladies

Image
As Stacie Orrico sang, "There's gotta be more to life than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me." You want to know why we're so desperate for companionship? The tv, the songs, media is feeding us a horrible message that if you're not in a relationship you're not living life truly, you can't be happy nor satisfied. I say without Christ you can't be truly satisfied. There's this new show coming out this summer called Single Ladies... They shouldn't have titled the show Single Ladies because they sure don't want to be single nor are they acting like ladies. How about Desperate Women?!! Come on!! Is that what being Single is all about? Looking for someone to change your status to taken?!    I like Queen Latifah but she could have done better than this- A black "Sex in the City"? The trailer (I do not advise kids to watch this. It has a sex scene and swearing): http://www.vh1.com/video/misc/612708/single-ladies-tr

Race Relations: Friendship

It upsets me so much when someone judges me on the basis of my skin color.    There was this new black girl at my church a while back and her mom and others kept pushing her to me and my friends who were black. Thing is, most of us were older than her and we tried to be nice to her but we didn't click. Later on after a fall out she hung out with some of the younger white girls from our church who she met on her own and who you could see she enjoyed much more.   The difference was interest!! I grew up with my friends from elementary to high school so we all had mostly the same interest and the friends she hung out with all played sports like her. It wasn't our skin color that made my friends close it was interest and the same thing goes for dating. Just because we share similar skin color doesn't mean we're going to get along. Just because we don't share the same skin color doesn't mean we won't get along. Skin color is just skin color. What about my

Break the Cycle!!!

Image
" The importance of fathers is unmitigated. It's so sad to me to see so many women convincing themselves that their children do not need one. I pray that my sisters wake up because in the  [black community]  over 80% of black babies are being born OUTSIDE of wedlock! And many if not most of these babies will NOT have a father in their lives, and yet we have the audacity to wonder why our children are running wild, and reeking havoc... Ladies please wake up. " -  Taylor-Sara Use the brain that God gave you and stop the cycle! Please just think. Don't let your emotions over run your rational. I know you care for this guy but giving your body over to him because he's cute and he says he loves you just won't cut it 9 months from now when he's disappeared and you have to take care of that child by yourself. In the black community this is so rampant. If you're one of the few black women who were blessed to have the father of your child stick around to rais

Love It Or Leave It: Film Reviews 2

This is my second installation of this series and as you can tell it's again film reviews. I hope you enjoy. Instead of using stars to rate I give ♥ (hearts) meaning I love it and to represent leave it I chose this symbol: ☞ (pointing hand). I hope you enjoy this blog and this segment. Julie & Julia    This 2009 film is based on two different but true stories about food, love, and ambition. It's a lovely film in which I found myself identifying with both Julie and Julia throughout most of the film sans the husband but replacing him with my supportive family.     A woman sets out to do every recipe in Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" as Julia becomes the famous woman she's known to be. The audience takes a trip through time through Julie with Julia. ("We laughed, we cried, it moved me Bob."- Larry the Cucumber. lol sorry) They did a great job in combining two different times, places and stories into one film, it flowed sea

Ice!!!!

A new year brings new snow. Down South we don't get much of the lovely white fluff but this time we got  much more than usual. I took out my older cam for a few shots of the snow before it melted all away and I'd regret not capturing a bit of it. My blog is named Ice and not snow because one that's what the snow has basically turned into on it's third day here and plus I have a February post from last year on this same topic titled Snow!!!! (I believe those pictures are better- taken with the same cam also). ❅❄   Baby It's Cold Outside ❄❅   ✳ The snow was almost a foot high this year : ) ~❆☃ICE IS EVERYWHERE!☃❆ ~   My favorite bird, the Red Cardinal posed for a few pictures for me. ♥ There were quite a few out that day.♥        We haven't seen the sun all week but it looks to be slowly breaking through finally ☀ Here comes the sun... do do do do... And the little children beg the sun to stay away so they can get mo
